This event includes a presentation by Dr. Kazim Agha, Partner at Ridout & Maybee LLP and Director of Local Sections at the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC), who will talk about his takeaways from his CIC experience and how it has supported his professional life.

We will be electing our 2021-2022 executives, the following positions are open for nominations:

Please see below for what each role entails, if you would like to nominate yourself or know of someone who would fit well within one of these positions, please contact chair@cictor.ca with the name, position, and contact information by Wednesday, January 20th, 2021 at 7 pm. 

 

Section Chair:

Sets the agendas for and chairs section meetings. The Chair is also the chief manager of the Section and is responsible for implementing the purposes of the Section and acting as one of three signing authorities. The Chair is jointly responsible with the Vice-Chair for the organization of the Annual General Meeting.


Section Vice-Chair:

Assists the Chair in carrying out their duties, as required. The Vice-Chair chairs Executive Meetings in the absence of the Chair. The Vice-Chair succeeds the Chair if the Chair leaves office before completing their term. The Vice-Chair acts as one of three signing authorities to the Section accounts. The Vice-Chair is jointly responsible with the Chair for organizing the Annual General Meeting.


Secretary/Treasurer:

Attends all Section meetings and records the minutes of such meetings. The Secretary/Treasurer is also responsible for delivering all notices and correspondence to Section members and the Corporation, and for keeping all of the books, paper, records, and other documents of the Section. Is also responsible for keeping proper accounting records, depositing and disbursing Section funds, as well as the financial reporting to the Section and the Board of Directors of the Corporation. The Secretary/Treasurer is required to deliver to the Corporation all accounting information and banking statements required to enable the Corporation’s accountants/auditors to prepare the Corporation’s financial statements. The Director of Finance of the Corporation will participate in any review or audit of the Section’s accounting records with the accountant/auditor for the Corporation. The Secretary/Treasurer acts as the third signing authority. 


Section Communications Officer (3):

Communicates to the membership about what is happening in CICTor. The Section Communications Officer shall give notice to the membership of upcoming events and communicate to the membership of events that have happened. The Section Communications Officer shall update the CICTor newsletter, CICTor website, and establish an online presence through social media channels.


Section Internal Events Coordinator (3):

Plans and organizes at least one social and one professional activity in which the target attendees will be CICTor members. The Section Internal Events Coordinator ensures that all activities are publicized at least seven days prior to the event by way of email invitations and any other means deemed appropriate. Events that the Outreach Coordinator would be involved in: Brewery Tour, Webinars, Interviews for ACCN.


Section Public Outreach Coordinator (3):

Plans and organizes at least one public outreach activity in which target attendees will be members of the public. The Section Public Outreach Coordinator ensures that all activities are publicized at least seven days prior to the event by way of email invitations and any other means deemed appropriate. Events that the Outreach Coordinator would be involved in: Library Demos, Webinars, Interviews for ACCN, public lectures.


Industrial Liaison (3):

Actively communicates between CIC Toronto Section and industry partners. The Industrial Liaison shall actively recruit the participation of members from industry in CICTor events and fundraise for CICTor activities via industry-related sponsorship. Events that the Industrial Liaison would be involved in: Industry Networking Night, Industry Tours, Company Profiles, Career Fair.

 
Academic Liaison (3):

Actively communicates between CIC Toronto Section and academic partners. The Academic Liaison shall actively recruit the participation of members from academic in CICTor events and fundraise for CICTor activities via academic-related sponsorship. Events that the Academic Liaison would be involved in: Student Awards Night, Crystal Growing Contest, Career Fair.

 
Government Liaison (3):

Actively communicates between the Section and members of local governments and, in collaboration with the Corporation, with the provincial and federal government on matters of importance to its members and in support of the Purpose of the Section. Examples of events the Government Liaison would be involved in: Surveys to candidates in Federal, Political, or Municipal Elections. Interviews with figures in policy-making.
