Career Exploration Series with Connie Tang

The Chemical Institute of Canada, Toronto Section (CICTor) is hosting the tenth virtual iteration of our Career Exploration Series on Thursday, June 30th, 2022 at 12:00 pm EDT. This series features talks by graduates of the chemical sciences who have transitioned to successful careers in a variety of non-academic fields.

Join us for a Career Exploration talk by Connie Tang, the Director of Strategy and Business Development at Research Impact Canada (RIC) based at York University, supporting RIC’s national and bilingual network of 20+ universities. Connie completed her MSc at the University of Toronto in Chemistry and serves on the Board of Directors for the Toronto Region Conservation Authority.

Through volunteer work, she is an active advocate for women, seniors, and newcomers to Canada in the Scarborough community. She also volunteers as a career mentor with Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council, where she supports professional development with experienced newcomers to Canada. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, painting, and cooking.

Networking has been a huge part of Connie's career path, from finishing grad school and especially in the early transition into working full-time. In this talk, you will get a chance to explore her career path and learn more about networking at key points, especially with some practical and actionable advice to make networking more accessible.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A and a speed-networking session with all participants, including Connie herself!
